Annapurna Pictures has released the green band trailer for Booksmart directed by Olivia Wilde’s first directorial movie.
The coming-of-age comedy genre movie premiered at this year’s SXSW last month. This is the first long-length directing experience from actress Wilde. Also, we know her from The Lazarus Effect, TRON: Legacy, Vinyl and more. The film stars Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein, Jessica Williams, Lisa Kudrow, Will Forte, and Jason Sudeikis. In addition, the story centers on two best friends right before they graduate from high-school.
Here is the official synopsis: “Told from a wildly original, fresh and modern perspective, Booksmart is an unfiltered comedy about high school best friends and the bonds we create that last a lifetime. Capturing the spirit of our times, the film is a coming of age story for a new generation.” It’s written by Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins with current revisions by Katie Silberman. Booksmart hits the theaters on May 24.
