Five video games we want to see as anime

Animes are an excellent way of telling a story, just like books, movies, and video games. In this article, we listed five great video games that would make an equally great anime.

Video games have become more and more popular in recent years as a storytelling technique. This is evident when we take into account how many books are being adapted into video games, and how many video games are being adapted into movies. Video games that have a rich story and offer cinematic experience are more likely to be adapted into other forms of art, and we usually see this instance in movies.

Sony tends to adapt video games into movies, as we saw from The Last of Us and Uncharted. They reportedly want to adapt Red Dead Redemption and Demon’s Souls for cinemas as well.

Nevertheless, we do not usually see video games adapted into anime series or movies, except for the recent Cyberpunk 2077 anime, which has not been released yet. Without further ado, let us check out five video games that would make kickass animes, then.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Developed by Asobo Studio, this game tells the story of two royal siblings that are wanted by the Inquisition during the Black Death. Combining great graphics and an immersive story, A Plague Tale: Innocence offers the gamers such an unforgettable experience.

Besides, little Hugo would make a great cute anime character, wouldn’t he?

Detroit: Become Human

Time for an innovative anime that focuses on the future, just like the Cyberpunk 2077 anime, which we have not heard from a long time. Anyways, Detroit: Become Human is another video game that has an amazing story with amazing characters. It’s about our future with androids that are indistinguishable from humans in terms of appearance and also equipped with immaculate artificial intelligence. Including subtle political messages related to segregation and some ethical dilemmas, Detroit: Become Human makes it to our list mainly due to its immersive story.

Many anime fans also like Detroit: Become Human. So, why not try this as an unorthodox anime about our future?

Life is Strange

It is yet another video game that proves that games can be a form of art as well. Life is Strange is an adventure about a teenage girl who can rewind time and affect the past and future. A fine drama with hand-painted visuals, Life is Strange already seems ready to be adapted into an anime. Among the best video games to be adapted into animes, Life is Strange finds a spot in our list as well.

Would you like to see a Life is Strange anime or is it just me being overly eulogistic?

Undertale

Undertale is an excellent indie game whose lead character is a little but determined girl. An RPG in which you do not have to kill anyone, this game manages to impress everyone who plays it despite its being pixelated. You know what they say though, sometimes an impressive story and gameplay (despite not really being a plus of Undertale) are more important than the graphics. You’ll see what we mean when or if you play Undertale.

This game would also make a great anime, especially with this kind of protagonist, don’t you think?

Overwatch

Despite being a shooter unlike every other video game on this list, Overwatch has a pretty impressive lore behind it. With peculiar characters from different backgrounds, this game already has some kickass animated stories including various characters from it. At this point, many start to want to actually watch Overwatch as an anime.

Do you think Overwatch’s rich backstory would help it to be a good anime?

Those were the video games that would make great animes as far as we’re concerned. Which video games other than those do you think would be better as animes? What could we have included in the list as well?
