HBO Max Is Coming to Roku and Check All Details

HBO Max signs a deal with Roku. Accessible service will be available from December 17th.

After a 7-month break, HBO reached an agreement with Roku. Roku’s last active user count reached 46 million. It was a huge loss that HBO’s content did not appear on Roku, but the two sides finally came to the table.

Roku has over 100 million users, making it the largest streaming market leader. On the other hand, HBO is having difficulty competing with its rivals. While services such as Netflix and Disney Plus increased the number of users quite quickly, HBO could not catch up with this speed in sales. In fact, it was a profitable deal for both parties, because the films HBO produced during the Christmas season will be released on Roku. The most important of these movies is the highly anticipated ‘Wonder Woman 1984‘.

This also shows the importance of this agreement for WarnerMedia. Meanwhile, all films in Warner Bros.’s 2021 slate will debut on HBO Max in the U.S. concurrently with its theatrical release and will be available to stream exclusively for one month. As a result, WarnerMedia needs Roku to reach tens of millions of people using these services. Roku wants to give HBO Max its customers to spend more time in this general ecosystem. So, this deal was inevitable.
