Serj Tankian says new SOAD album: “We’re not thinking about right now”
Serj Tankian just talking about the new SYSTEM OF A DOWN album. He revealed, “It’s not something that we’re thinking about right now.”
Only one month ago, SOAD released “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” tracks are the band’s first new songs 15 years later. This tracks shared press statement: “The aggression and injustice being perpetrated against the Armenian people in Artsakh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey is a human rights violation and a war crime.”
Also, these new songs income goes to Armenia Fund, “All of us in the System realize this is an existential battle for our people. So this is very personal for us. What we need right now is for the world to put politics aside. And support Armenia by sanctioning Turkey and Azerbaijan and recognizing Artsakh.” Serj says that.
During an interview with Belgium’s Studio Brussel, Serj Tankian revealed when they think to release a new and upcoming SOAD album:
“It was great. It was not so much an artistic decision or a decision of, ‘Hey, let’s make music together. Let’s have fun making music together.’ It was nothing like that. It was more about because Azerbaijan and Turkey had attacked the peaceful, civilized people of Artsakh on September 27th. We have to do something for our people. This is bullshit. We need to get some justice. So we did it as an act of activism more so than a musical decision.”
He also talked about how they create the new album:
“We got together for the cause. We’re still working for the cause. We’re still fundraising for the cause. We have not talked about the future of the band. It’s not something that we’re thinking about right now. Right now we’re still dealing with the fallout of what happened with the war, refugees, displaced people, humanitarian aid. So we’re concerned about that. We’re not concerned right now about music or anything else.”
