Corey Taylor Says Why He Can’t Use Bad Words on SLIPKNOT Albums
Corey Taylor says in his recent interview why he can’t use curse words on SLIPKNOT albums. He also revealed what he thinks about the band’s 2004’s “Vol. 3: Subliminal Verses” album.
In October, Corey’s solo album “CMFT,” also released via Roadrunner Records. In this latest album, he works with Christian Martucci (guitar), Zach Throne (guitar), Jason Christopher (bass), and Dustin Robert (drums) on the record days. But some of the fans don’t like too much and criticized him.
And, he recently talked about TMZ and said: “I get the benefits of fame without them.”
During an interview with Bert Kreischer’s The Bertcast, Corey Taylor said why he can’t use curse or bad words on SLIPKNOT albums:
“No, no. I say ‘Jesus’ but that’s it. It was such a big fuck you to everybody who said I couldn’t write lyrics without cursing. That’s the whole reason I did it. Because everybody’s like, ‘Ah, typical Corey Taylor fashion, they’re profanity-laced, fucking raw blood…’ And I went, ‘Really? Alright, motherfucker, check this out!’ And I did the whole album, there’s not one. The closest I come is the Christian curse, basically. But I don’t give a fuck about that.”
Corey Taylor also revealed what metal means to metalheads to a Valley girl:
“Metal to a metalhead? I mean, the only thing that I can really put in perspective is – metal to a metalhead is as important as the best selfie on Instagram to a Valley girl.
It’s that constant search for the angle, the little puffy lips, getting the sun right, the background, ‘Oh, shit, that’s the Leaning Tower of Pisa, look at that shit!’ That’s what metal is to us – that perfect riff, that perfect solo, that perfect blast, and then it just breaks down hard with a fucking half time! You’re just like, ‘Oh!’, and your fucking head explodes! That’s probably the only gateway that I can even try and find, that bridge of understanding because I’m assuming she takes a lot of selfies…
It’s so hard to explain to someone what I call ‘inert anger.’ I used to call it “The Irish,’ you know, ‘My Irish is getting up’ because being Irish and German, you’re just kind of born angry. Really nothing specific to be fucking pissed about, you’re just double-trouble. There are things that happen to you in life that encourage that and make it grow. But because of that music, it can even you out and it can allow you to function, it can allow you to kind of get your shit together – it can allow you to understand and have empathy for other people, instead of being locked.”
