METALLICA’s Former Bassist Jason Newsted First Show on YouTube

METALLICA fans upload Jason Newsted‘s first-ever performance on their YouTube channel. This almost 1 hour long sound recorded at Reseda, California.

On October 28, 1986, after the funeral of METALLICA‘s old member Cliff Burton. METALLICA found a new bassist Jason Newsted and he officially joined the band. Then they also are working together in a few rehearsals and ready for Jason Newsted’s first-ever show on November 8th. This is the first publicity as support to their friends Metal Church at Reseda, California.

With this new line-up, METALLICA performed 14 songs on that night. They starting their set with Master Of Puppets also opens with Battery, and close, as a second encore, with ‘Fight Fire With Fire’ cover track.

During the concert, James Hetfield introduced the new METALLICA member Jason Newsted like this:

“Welcome to the very, very secret Metallica gig that every fucker knows about! Here’s the new fucker right over here man, this is the guy… Jason Newsted, we fucking love him, man, so make him feel at home, alright? I want to have some fun tonight.”

Also, the famous tour manager Doug Goodman summing as a follows:

“I was there for Jason’s first show and it was fantastic. Everyone in the audience knew who Jason was because we all knew him from Newsted’s former band ‘Flotsam And Jetsam’. I remember everyone there was looking forward to the show.

It’s obviously not his fault that there was a fucking bus crash that had caused someone to die. It has nothing to do with him that a position in METALLICA had opened up in the first place.

So Jason Newsted is coming in not as someone on hand to save the day, but just as a kid who finds himself in circumstances that neither he nor METALLICA could have imagined. Everyone watching knew that, and that’s why they were rooting for him.”
