1. He’s From Los Angeles
Eric was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, and he’s very proud of where he’s from. During an interview with Uproxx, Eric said, ” I love LA, man. I really, really love LA…I like other places, but I like getting back home especially since I’ve built my dream life here. I’ve really built a life that I’m proud of. ”
2. He’s A Grammy Winner
Despite not having a lot of mainstream success, Eric is very well-known in the music industry and his hard work and talent certainly haven’t gone unnoticed. In 2011, he won a Grammy Award for Best R&B album for work that he did on Chris Brown’s album, F.A.M.E. There’s a very good chance that there will be even more awards in Eric’s future.
3. He’s Megan Good’s Brother-In-Law
Eric has been married to La’Myia Good since 2015 and the couple has two children together. La’Myia is a talented actress and singer who is also the older sister of actress, Megan Good. When talking about his relationship with La’Myia in an interview with American Songwriter, Eric said, “That’s my better half. I look up to her and respect her. I was always trying to make sure I hit my career with the best foot forward. Having a wife in the music business – or any business – is really important for me. My music changed and shifted as I got with her – I wanted to talk about love.”
4. He’s Written Songs For Very Big Artists
Not only has Eric put out some great music of his own, but he has also written songs for some of the most popular artists in the industry including Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and Usher. Even though he is an artist himself, he doesn’t have any regrets about giving any of his songs away.
5. He Used To Play Football
Music has always been a big part of Eric’s life, but when he was younger he also played sports. He grew up playing football, although we’re unclear how far he got before he decided to stop playing. He credits his time as a football player with helping him understand the importance of being able to work with others.
6. He Hopes To Inspire Others
Eric feels fortunate that he gets to wake up and do something he loves every day. While he obviously hopes that people are entertained by his art, he also wants them to be inspired when they hear his music. So far, I think it’s safe to say that he’s been doing a great job accomplishing that goal.
7. His Grandfather Is One Of His Biggest Inspirations
Eric isn’t the first person in his family to pursue a career in the music industry. He is the grandson of the legendary songwriter Bobby Day who wrote the song “Rockin’ Robbin” which was originally performed by the Jackson 5. Having such a talented grandfather was a big inspiration for Eric early on in life.
8. He Likes To Travel
Music has given Eric the ability to have an entire lifetime’s worth of awesome experiences. Thanks to the success he’s had in his career, Eric has gotten the opportunity to travel to places all over the world. Although he enjoys traveling, he loves being able to come back to Los Angeles when it’s all said and done.
9. He’s Always Been A Big Usher Fan
Getting the chance to work with Usher has been one of the greatest moments of Eric’s career because he’s always been a huge fan of Usher’s work. Eric told Fresh! Hip Hop and R & B, “I would say Usher was one of my biggest inspirations from the beginning of my career. I’ve always looked up to him; from the voice to the moves to his stage presence and his overall cool demeanor. Usher is the GOAT!”
10. His Faith Is Important To Him
Eric isn’t the type of person who goes into great detail about his religious beliefs, but he has made it known that he believes in God and that his faith plays a significant role in his life. With all of the ups and downs that come with being an entertainer, Eric has likely had to lean on his faith many times over the years.
