Every year, it seems like there’s a handful of new rappers who start to create a buzz in the industry. However, many of them don’t stick around for long. Although some people thought 9lokknine was going to be another one of those artists, he has consistently proven people wrong. The Florida-based rapper put out his first mixtape in 2018 and he’s been on a roll ever since. He has even attracted the attention of the legendary hip-hop label Cash Money who he is currently signed with. 1. He Originally Wanted To Be A Football Player
9lokknine has always loved music, but he didn’t always plan on having a career in the music industry. Instead, sports were his main focus when he was younger and his goal was to eventually make it to the NFL. However, he never really got seriously into playing football.
2. He’s Had Lots Of Trouble With The Law
9lokknine is only 21 years old, but he’s already been in the legal system for more than five years. His troubles began when he was just 15 years old and he was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm in connection to a shooting. Over the years, he has had several run-ins with the law including recent charges of attempted murder.
3. He’s Very Private
If there’s one thing you won’t catch 9lokknine doing, it’s slipping. He isn’t the type of person to put all of his business out there for the world to see. There isn’t much information out there about 9lokknine other than things involving his music or his legal troubles.
4. He Has A Large Social Media Following
Despite not having achieved much commercial success, 9lokknine has still managed to build a very large and devoted following. He currently has more than 1 million followers on Instagram and he has also gotten a lot of engagement on YouTube where he has 227,000 subscribers.
5. He Used To Try To Autotune His Voice
When 9lokknine was younger, he loved listening to Lil Wayne and T Pain. At the time, both artists were heavily into autotune and 9lokknine loved the way it sounded. During an interview with XXL, 9lokknine shared that he used to rap into a fan to recreate the sound of autotune.
6. He Likes To Spend Money On Jewelry
Anyone who has ever come into a lot of money at one time probably has at least one thing that they couldn’t help but splurge on. For 9lokknine, that thing has been jewelry. He loves expensive chains and he feels that they really boost his appearance. Over the years, he has spent over $100,000 just buying various jewelry items.
7. He Thinks He’s Ugly
If you’re familiar with 9lokknine’s music, you might be under the impression that he thinks pretty highly of himself. However, he also has some struggles with his self-confidence. During an interview with Vlad TV, 9lokknine admitted that he sees himself as ugly although he also added that he doesn’t have any trouble getting women.
8. He Doesn’t Like Being Compared To Kodak
Throughout his career, 9lokknine has often been compared to fellow Florida rapper, Kodak Black. While the comparisons many have been flattering at first. While talking to Vlad TV in 2018, however, he admitted that constantly being compared to Kodak was starting to get annoying. His comment wasn’t meant to be a slight at Kodak, though. Like every other artist in the industry, 9lokknine wants to be able to have his own identity.
9. He’s Made Some Colorist Comments
Colorism has been an issue in the Black community for centuries, and it’s one that hasn’t even come close to going away. 9lokknine told Vlad TV that he doesn’t want to have children with a dark-skinned woman because he doesn’t want to have dark-skinned kids. As you might be able to guess, these comments rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and many were disappointed in 9lokknine’s stance.
10. He Started Rapping At 14
9lokknine was 14 years old when he started to get serious about making music. Although it can take lots of artists many years to finally get a worthwhile opportunity, things started to take off for 9lokknine rather quickly. Within two years, he was starting to make a name for himself in the local rap scene and his music eventually started to spread to other parts of the country.
