Candyman trailer reveals for the Jordan Peele-produced film
Candyman teaser trailer reveals for the Jordan Peele-produced sequel to the 1992 classic horror film. MGM & Universal Pictures started production last August.
This is a horror, thriller genre film originally made from the director Bernard Rose. 20 years later the sequel film will direct from Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) and a screenplay by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld. The horror film returns to the neighborhood where the legend that your friend’s older sibling told you about at a sleepover: Candyman. Now also the Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood.
Here’s the official description from Universal Pictures:
“For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green. In this neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story. This is about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand. Those ones easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In the present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down. Also, the visual artist Anthony McCoy and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright. They move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini. Now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.”
The film also starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, and the original character himself, Tony Todd. Candyman will screen in theaters on June 12th, 2020. Check out the first teaser trailer below.
