Is there going to be a sequel to Mortal Kombat?
Mortal Kombat movie has been released on HBO Max and many fans have already started to wait for a sequel. Is there going to be one, though?
Fans of the franchise have been waiting for the new Mortal Kombat movie for a considerable amount of time. The producers were planning to release it on April 16th. However, it was then delayed to April 23rd. The movie is finally released, and the reactions from the fans were awesome. Mortal Kombat promised us excellent visual effects, bloody fights, and relentless fatalities before its release. It delivered exactly that.
Even though the Mortal Kombat movie is just out, fans are already wondering when they’re going to see a sequel, or whether they’re going to see one at all. There’s no official announcement on this now, but there are some strong indications.
Is a Mortal Kombat sequel coming in next year?
Despite the absence of an official word, Warner Bros. already has plans for a sequel. Three sequels, in fact. We know that because Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero) revealed that he signed a contract for four movies in an interview with Variety. That means we can see three more sequels. It is thus highly likely that they’re going to make at least one sequel after this successful release of Mortal Kombat.
The director of the movie, on the other hand, does not think that the cast should care about the sequel that much. That’s for when they’re shooting, though. Simon McQuoid reportedly banned mentioning a sequel on set because he wanted the crew to focus on what they were doing at that moment. He also said that he’d “love” to do a sequel if the story and the circumstances were right.
To sum up, even though Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce it, a Mortal Kombat sequel is probably underway.
