Whatever Happened to Lillian Muller?

Who is Lillian Muller? More importantly, what happened to her? This is a question that people have been asking for some time now, but answers aren’t always as easy to come by as one might think. We may live in the age of instant information, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that information is always forthcoming. In fact, some people who prefer to lead largely private lives are quite good at keeping things out of the public eye, even when their job forces them to be in it from time to time. It would seem that Muller is one of those individuals. In order to better understand what happened to her, let’s first get a better understanding of who she is and why her name is so recognizable to so many people as an actress.

Who Is She?

Many people think of her as nothing more than a model. It’s true, the Norwegian born in 1951 has had a long career as a model, but it doesn’t stop there. She’s also got a fairly comprehensive filmography, having starred in both film and television for a number of years. She was largely active during the 1970s and 80s. Some of her more notable films include 1976’s Rosemary’s Daughter as well as the 1980 film Once Upon a Spy. She was also in King of the Mountain, which came out in 1981. Perhaps she is best known for her guest starring roles in a number of popular television shows during that same time. On that end, she played in episodes of Starsky and Hutch, Fantasy Island and Magnum PI, just to name a few. Clearly, she had a very busy career during this time. The curious thing is that she ceased to be in film or television past the early 1980s. In fact, some people might even say that she almost seemed to drop off the face of the Earth around that time. The question is, why?

What Happened To Her?

As it turns out, she far from fell off the face of the Earth. What she did do is star in a Van Halen music video and then go back home to Norway, where she is still living today. If you’re a fan of classic rock and roll, there’s every chance you’ve seen her in the video, Hot for Teacher. After she went back home to Norway, she continued to work some in modeling, but mostly became interested in writing. As such, she’s published a couple of different books, all while raising a child single-handedly. Obviously, this is no small feat. Anyone who has ever raised a child on their own knows what a challenge it can be, even under the best of circumstances. Things that often wouldn’t seem like a challenge at all can sometimes feel like they’re almost insurmountable. She managed to accomplish that goal and remain in an active and successful career, all at the same time.

In Her Own Words

Let’s not forget that she had a very successful career as a model. As a matter of fact, she was Playboy’s Playmate of the Year on nine separate occasions from 1975 through 1999, something that is considered almost impossible to achieve. She’s proud of what she accomplished as a model and with her work in film and television. As far as her role as the teacher in the Van Halen music video goes, she says that she thought she was a bit old for part, but nobody else really seemed to care. At the end of the day, it’s obvious that she has quite a different outlook on her own career than those who are on the outside looking in.

Creating Gossip Where There Is None

If she was Playmate of the Year so many times between the 1970s and 1990s, all while authoring at least two successful books and continuing an otherwise successful modeling career, why did so many people get the idea that she had basically disappeared after she stopped starring in film and television in the early 1980s? Unfortunately, it largely comes down to the fact that society as a whole tends to enjoy creating gossip or talking about scandal, even where none exists. This is true with everyone but it’s even worse with people who just so happen to have a job that puts him in the public eye. Thanks to the internet, one person can say something that has absolutely no basis in truth and it takes off like wildfire, going viral in a matter of minutes. That’s largely what she fell victim to. It’s a sad behavior that people seem to engage in for no real reason other than the fact that they seem to have nothing better to do with their time.

As far as Muller herself is concerned, she is still living a happy life in Norway, doing exactly what she wants to do. She doesn’t really seem to care what type of gossip exists or doesn’t exist about her. She’s too busy creating the positive life that she wants, just like she always has. Few people would argue that she has accomplished things that very few people ever even dream of doing. She’s been a very successful model, she has worked with some of the most talented actors in the film and television industry and she’s been a successful author several times over. However, she considers her greatest accomplishment the fact that she is a mother. As previously mentioned, she raised her child on her own and she did it without giving up her career. As such, she serves as inspiration to anyone else who is facing similar circumstances or who has similar dreams, as she is living proof that these types of dreams can come true. She also proves that no matter what types of hurdles you face, you can overcome them successfully as long as you have the passion, drive and motivation to do so.
