Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Begins Filming Ewan McGregor Says
Ewan McGregor has recently appeared on Eddie Izzard’s #MakeHumanityGreatAgain run for charity and he talked about Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor is one of the two actors confirmed to be in the series that is said to be premiering sometime in 2022.
So rumors have been wandering around for a while such as when the show would begin filming and where. Since massive sets have been built in England, it made fans questioning if they were for the show. There wasn’t much been shared so fans have been speculating what the show will cover.
McGregor has first revealed the show would begin filming in March 2021, back than October 2020. And in his last interview, he didn’t say much different. According to him, Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to begin filming late this spring. He also revealed that the series will be in LA, not in Boston, England, as has been reported earlier. So we can see that the speculations about the massive sets in England weren’t much true.
“We start making it in the late spring and we’re going to be shooting it here in LA. It’s so funny every week there’s a new report and my dad keeps sending me links saying, ‘I thought you were going to be shooting in LA,’ because there’s another tabloid exposé that we’re shooting in some bizarre town somewhere. Then it was meant to be Boston or Boston, England, but we’re not. We’re shooting it in LA.” He said.
McGregor also said that the series will be shooting similar to The Mandalorian. They will be using the same technology as Disney+ used for its first hit Star Wars series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi plot details are still being kept hidden
Deborah Chow will be directing the series. She has also directed The Mandalorian’s chapter 3 and chapter 7. Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor are the only actors who confirmed to be in the series yet. Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of several Star Wars series that Disney will use to push the franchise in a new direction after the Skywalker Saga ended. Deborah Chow will be directing the series. Because of the pandemic effects on large-scale productions, they chose to make the limited series only be six episodes long.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will bring back McGregor along with Anakin Skywalker and Hayden Christensen will be in Darth Vader mode at the beginning of the show. And it is relatively easy to guess things thanks to McGregor’s iconic character despite plot details are still being kept hidden. Obi-Wan intends to protect Luke Skywalker better. So he goes into self-imposed exile to desert planet, Tatooine. And the crisis Darth Vader has caused while he was besetting the universe might pick up with Obi-Wan in years. So it seems that Obi-Wan and Darth Vader will engage in a rematch over fifteen years after Revenge of the Sith released. So Obi-Wan Kenobi is actually an opportunity to see the origin story of the two characters together.
