The Queen’s Gambit Is Being Adapted Into A Musical Show

As many of us know, The Queen’s Gambit has been running unstoppably from one success to another. It’d became Netflix’s most-watched scripted miniseries with over 62 million viewers in its only first month and also received two Critics’ Choice Awards recently, which are Best Limited Series and Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Anya Taylor-Joy’s portrayal of Beth Harmon. And above all, it is now becoming a musical as Broadway producers announce.

The beloved Netflix miniseries has also won Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, and for Anya Taylor-Joy’s lead performance, too. The story follows orphan Beth Harmon, as she discovers her supernatural ability of chess. She also struggles with her addiction and the prejudices of a male-centered world. And now, her journey from Kentucky to Paris, and to Moscow is becoming into music, dance, and singing, too.

The Queen’s Gambit is becoming a Broadway Musical

Level Forward CEO Adrienne Becker and Producer Julia Dunetz said about the upcoming adaptation, “It is a privilege for Level Forward to lead the charge of bringing The Queen’s Gambit to the stage through the beloved and enduring craft of musical theater. Told through a brave and fresh point of view, audiences are already sharing in the friendship and fortitude of the story’s inspiring women who energize and sustain Beth Harmon’s journey and ultimate triumph. The story is a siren call amidst our contemporary struggles for gender and racial equity, and we’re looking forward to moving the project forward.”

Susan Schulman from Literary Agency and Rachel Gould on behalf of Level Forward brokered the deal on behalf of the Tevis Family Trust.
