When Will ‘Resident Evil’ Reboot Movie Release?

Resident Evil is an upcoming horror film that is directed by Johannes Roberts and written by Roberts&Greg Russo. The film is served to be a reboot of the Resident Evil film series. The Resident Evil reboot movie is now set for a September 2021 release date.

The series is based on the video games series which has the same name. The film stars; Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hopper, and more. According to one of the writers, the film will be set in the year 1998 and will be based on features from the first and second games.

The game and film franchise also received a separate Netflix Original Series live-action adaptation. Andrew Dabb, the writer of Supernatural, is known to be writing the script.

When Will the Resident Evil’s movie release?

The film is known to be released in theaters in the United States on September 3, 2021, by Sony Pictures. The release date was moved up by a week from its original release date of September 9, 2021. Since the film is a German-American film, in German-speaking territories it will be handled by Constantin Film.

What’s the synopsis of the ‘Resident Evil’ movie?

The film’s official synopsis states that; “The story takes place on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998,” and that the movie will be “the official origin story of the Resident Evil world.”

The first Resident Evil game was released back in 1996 and was set in 1998. The film entirely took place within a mansion hiding a dangerous science experiment. The first two sequels took place shortly after.

One of the filmmakers also talked into an interview saying; “With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.”
