Fast and Furious 9 The Fast Saga Has Been Delayed Again

As all the fans are waiting eagerly for the highly anticipated release of F9, a.k.a. Fast and Furious 9, Universal Pictures has announced it is delaying for the third time, from May 22 to June 25. This actually points out just three days after the 20-year anniversary of the original film. On the other hand, the studio also pushed back Minions: The Rise of Gru until summer 2022, 12 months.

As a result of the pandemic, Universal Pictures has also been proactive despite it’s actually been a year it released the first trailer of the anticipated movie. At first, the studio had moved Fast and Furious 9: The Fast Saga release date from May 22, 2020, to April 2, 2021. Then, it delayed to May 28, 2021, last October again. And now, it’s postponed to June 25, 2021, hopefully for the last time.

On the other hand, Universal ran two Super Bowl commercials as it upped marketing for Fast and Furious 9: The Fast Saga, which co-stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Dwayne Johnson, and John Cena, among others. And the franchise earned nearly $5.9 billion in global ticket sales. Also the last movie, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw had earned $44.6 million with its combined DVD/Blu-ray Disc unit sales, as well.

Vin Diesel talked about Fast and Furious

In the meantime, the beloved and talented star of franchise Vin Diesel had an interview with EW recently and talked everything about the Fast and Furious, including a confirmation for fan-turned-star Helen Mirren is finally going the wheel and a space action possibility.

“Definitely eager to share it. When you make a good movie, your first goal is to make something that you can be proud of, and in the film business, you learn from the very beginning that when the film gets released, even without the pandemic, is rarely in your control. But when you really think about the quality of the movie, there’s more time you have to work in post-production, more time to get the shots right; it does give you a little bit of a cushion. I want to get the movie out for all of the great fans who have been waiting for this chapter and yet look at the world that we live in.”

Diesel said of Fast and Furious 9: The Fast Saga and added: “It is going to be a special day when that audience is back in the movie theater, celebrating the ninth chapter of this saga that they’ve been so loyal to.”

So yes, despite New York theaters are set to re-open on March 5, operating at 25% seating capacity, new delays are still coming. So, we’ll see what else is yet to happen. But hopefully, we won’t be in more disappointment and come together with all the shows we have been expecting. Yet, better than nothing.

Who knows, maybe some of us will somehow bump into each other in theatres while celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the cults and most beloved franchises, watching Fast and Furious 9: The Fast Saga with popcorns on June 25, 2021. They will come eventually. So, stay tuned as we inform you about the latest updates on the agenda of the industries.
