Japan Sinks: 2020 season 1 trailer also reveals the release date. Sakyo Komatsu‘s best selling novel that will be available as a Netflix Original anime series.

This is a bestselling 1973 novel of the same name now turn a sci-fi anime series on July 2020. Also, the novel already adapted a few times over the decades, including a TV show in 1975 and a film in 2006. However, this is a 10-part anime series, with animation by Science Saru, the studio co-founded by Masaaki Yuasa. We also know the director Masaaki Yuasa from Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Devilman Crybaby, Ride Your Wave, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken.

What’s the synopsis of Japan Sinks: 2020 anime series?

Here’s the official description from Netflix:

“An ordinary family is put to the test as a series of massive earthquakes throw Japan into total mayhem. From director Masaaki Yuasa (Devilman Crybaby, Night is Short, Walk on Girl), the first anime adaptation of the bestselling science fiction novel by Sakyo Komatsu.”

Also, telling a story about a family trying to reunite in the earthquakes hitting contemporary Japan.

There are only a few months to release this anime. Japan Sinks: 2020 will be available on Netflix on July 9th, 2020. Check out the first trailer below. If they reach more fans with season 1 probably they want to shoot season 2 in 2021.
