Spotify launches Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen Podcast
Spotify announced the Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen podcast! The podcast will be in the partnership between Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company “Higher Ground”. The podcast highlights the duo’s family, fatherhood, discussing race, and also the state of America. When will the podcast release?
Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen have been friends since they first met on the campaign trail back in 2008. Everyone who knows their friendship knows that they are a duo! They discuss and talk about many things on the Spotify podcast. Springsteen’s autobiographical tune, ‘My Hometown,’ is one of the discussions. In part, the 1984 song addresses racial strife in the ’60s as Springsteen looks back at the tiny town in which he grew up in New Jersey.
Bruce Springsteen mentions how he realized a deeper meaning to the song, which he says he still loves to sing. “You are a part of the general flow of history, and as such what is happening and what has happened is partly your responsibility. Do you know? You were tied in historically to the good and the bad things that have happened, not just in our little town, but in our country. And, as an active player at this moment in time, you have some power to acknowledge these things and perhaps do something about them in some small way.”
When will the Spotify Podcast Release?
The Spotify podcast ‘Renegades: Born in the USA’ is a podcast featuring 8 episodes with Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen. The podcast is now on air!
“On the surface, Bruce and I don’t have a lot in common,” Barack Obama says in the intro of the first episode. “But over the years, what we’ve found is that we’ve got a shared sensibility about work, about family, and also about America.”
“In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much. Trying to chronicle the stories of its people. Looking for a way to connect our own individual searches for meaning and truth and community with the larger story of America.”
