10 Things You Didn’t Know about Taxstone

Life can change in either direction in the blink of an eye, and that’s something Daryl Campbell AKA Taxstone knows first hand. During the early 2010s,  Taxstone rose to prominence on Twitter thanks to his bold personality and willingness to say whatever was on his mind. His popularity on Twitter eventually trickled into the real world where he got the chance to rub elbows with many celebrities – particularly rap stars. However, things quickly took a turn for the wort in 2017 when Taxstone was arrested in connection with a murder. He has been behind bars ever since, however, he will stand trial on November 2, 2021. Unfortunately for Taxstone, his legal troubles have become what he’s best known for, but the truth is there’s more to him than that. Keep reading to learn 10 things you didn’t know about Taxstone.

1. He’s Afro-Latino

Taxstone is a proud Brooklyn native, but his family’s roots actually trace back to Central America. In a tweet in August 2015, Taxtone revealed that his family immigrated to the United States from Honduras. However, he didn’t provide any additional information on when they came.

2. He Was A Rapper

During an interview with DJ Vlad, Taxstone shared that he used to rap in his younger days, but it was never something he took very seriously. Plus, once he realized that it probably wasn’t going to make him any money in the future, he decided to switch lanes and try something new.

3. He’s Still Active On Social Media

If you unfollowed Taxstone after he got arrested because you assumed his social media accounts would be inactive, you might want to think again. Despite being in jail, Taxstone is still active on Instagram and Twitter. Additionally, he is still recording episodes of his podcast, Tax Season, from Rikers Island.

4. He Was A Child Actor

Many people don’t realize that Taxstone was already well on his way to being a star long before the world knew him as Taxstone. He even appeared in the popular 90s police drama, New York Undercover. However, Taxstone never landed any major roles and he eventually decided to leave acting behind.

5. He’s Managed Artists

Taxstone is the kind of person who has always been all about his business and he knows exactly how to find money-making opportunities. Even though he gave up on his own music career, he has managed other artists including New York-based rapper, Manolo Rose. Unfortunately, however, it appears that Manolo Rose’s career has slowed down in the last couple of years and it’s unlikely that Tax is still his manager.

6. He’s Pretty Quiet About His Personal Life

Taxstone may be a public figure, but he’s never been the type to share all of his business with the world. In fact, he’s been almost the exact opposite. Outside of basic pieces of information, he hasn’t shared many details about his personal life. Since we all know how quickly things can go left when people overshare, it’s easy to see why he’s chosen to take a more private approach.

7. He’s Blind In One Eye

When Taxstone was younger, he spent a lot of time out in the streets and that lifestyle came with some negative consequences. According to an article from The New York Times, “Mr. Campbell went blind in his left eye after being shot when he was younger; the gun had been so close to him that gunpowder burned his retina.”

8. He Likes To Inspire Others

Sure, Taxstone is a little rough around the edges, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a good heart underneath it all. Taxstone really does enjoy using his platform as a way to help others. Since he’s been in jail, he has also made it a point to use his voice to speak up for those who may not be able to speak for themselves.

9. He Was Instrumental In Helping The Song “Panda” Go Platinum

As a music fan, Taxstone enjoys putting other people on to the songs and artists he likes. During the 2010s, Taxstone had the power to take a song to the next level just by sharing it on social media. In 2016, Tax helped Brooklyn-based rapper, Desiigner, gain lots of attention when he shared the song “Panda” on all of his social media outlets. The song has since been certified 5x platinum. Desiigner also went on to ink a deal with Kanye West’s record label, GOOD Music.

10. He Doesn’t Care What Haters Say

Taxstone stone may be a lot of things, but sensitive isn’t one of them. He has never been concerned with what other people think about him. This mindset has allowed him to say and do what he wants without fear of backlash. While this has been a great quality in terms of his career, it may not have gone over so well in other areas of his life.
