University Students Dance in Istanbul Protest with METALLICA (VIDEO)
METALLICA songs such as “Master of Puppets” and “Sad But True” are played by university students in Istanbul to protest the new rector.
Melih Bulu, the new rector of Bogazici University in Istanbul, is being protested by the students. Students oppose the political appointment of a state-certified rector to head their prestigious university.
Melih Bulu was appointed as the new rector with the presidential decree issued by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on January 1. Not long after, student groups at Bogazici University started protesting and called the new rector to resign.
Melih Bulu spoke to Haberturk TV during the protests and said that he does not try to change the culture of the university and he said that he was a METALLICA fan. Bulu, who wanted to appear as a lovely and modern rector to students, witnessed an interesting protest this time.
On the university campus, students gathered and sang METALLICA‘s songs and danced. You can watch the related video below.
Students who think that the appointment of a political figure who is not a university academic as a rector is not democratic, continue the protests.
Bulu said that despite the protests, he would not resign and that the students could protest wherever and however they want.
In addition, METALLICA became popular, and the most spoken topic on Twitter in Turkey. METALLICA members have not yet shared any post regarding the protests. Let’s see if the group will support university students in the coming days.
