WandaVision season 2 is not in the plans, the director says
WandaVision’s director Matt Shakman says that they don’t plan on shooting WandaVision Season 2.
Ever since it debuted back this January, WandaVision has been a huge success for Marvel Studios. First Marvel show as a part of the fourth phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe, WandaVision tells of the events that happen after Avengers: Endgame. There are many familiar faces for fans from MCU in the show, including Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, respectively. And now, the show’s director Matt Shakman announces there are no plans for the second season of WandaVision, ahead of its first season’s finale.
Matt Shakman: “No Plans For WandaVision Season 2”
Speaking to Collider, Matt Shakman explains they don’t have plans for a second season, but that may possibly change. It depends on the story, he says.
“I love working at Marvel. It’s the best place in the world. They’re so great with filmmakers and I’ve had such a great journey with this show. We have no plans for WandaVision Season 2 at all – that could change, of course.
It all depends on what’s the story. We were very focused on telling this story over 9 episodes and hopefully coming to a conclusion that feels satisfying and also surprising.”
What’s Next For WandaVision?
Even if plans do not change and there will be no second season of WandaVision, it’s possible that we see the story extend into another work of Marvel. That’s because we know Wanda is confirmed to be in the Doctor Strange sequel named Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We do not know what role Wanda is going to play in the next Doctor Strange film, but two shows could be connected and WandaVision can lead into the film, ScreenRant says.
What do you think about this decision? Were you expecting a season 2 for WandaVision?
