10 Things You Didn’t Know about Gillie Da Kid

Gillie Da Kid has been rapping for more than 20 years. Although he has never gained as much commercial success as many of his colleagues, his skills have earned him the respect of some of the biggest names in hip-hop. At one point in time, Gillie Da Kid was even signed to Cash Money Records, however, he ultimately ended up parting ways with the label. Like many other artists, Gillie’s career has gotten a bit of a second wind thanks to the internet. He is the co-host of a podcast called Million Dollaz Worth of Game, and it’s become quite popular among rap fans. 1. He’s A Philadelphia Native

Philadelphia is known for being the birthplace of lots of creative and important people, and Gillie Da Kid is proud to have his name added to the list. He is a proud Philly native and he has always been happy to represent his city. From what we can tell, he still lives in the area.

2. He’s Done Some Acting

Rapping is what Gillie Da Kid is best known for, but he’s also contributed to the entertainment industry in other ways. He made his acting debut in 2010 in a movie called Caged Animal. Over the years, he has made a handful of other on-screen appearances. It seems likely that he will add more acting credits to his resume in the years to come.

3. He’s Been Shot

Gillie Da Kid didn’t have any the easiest upbringing, and the area he comes from is known for having its struggles. In the summer of 2006, Gillie was shot three times. He was hit in the wrist, foot, and stomach. According to an article from XXL, the attack was “suspected to have been an attempt on his life.”

4. He Almost Got Punched By Beanie Siegel

Hip-hop is known for being a very competitive genre which means artists don’t always get along. Several years ago, Gillie and fellow Philadelphia-based rapper Beanie Siegel found themselves at odds. It eventually got to the point where things almost got violent between them. When describing the situation to Revolt TV, Gillie said, “We went through some s**t… We had an argument on the radio, we was on the phone on Power 99. Everybody heard that s**t and we seen each other on South Street and Beans did try to sneak me. I slipped that shit like Floyd Mayweather, though, he’ll tell you. It was [a] hard [punch], but it was slow.”

5. He Supported The All Lives Matter Movement

2020 was a very intense year for several reasons, and racial tensions in the United States reached a boiling point. Many of Gillie’s fans questioned why he didn’t speak out and show his support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. When Gillie finally addressed the issue, he said that he doesn’t support the movement and instead said All Lives Matter. This upset many of his fans and people began calling for him to be canceled.

6. He Had Beef with Lil Wayne

At one point in time, Lil Wayne and Gillie Da Kid had a solid professional relationship. However, if you were a rap fan during the early 2000s then you probably remember when the two had some serious beef. Gillie claimed to have been a ghostwriter for Wayne, and the two began dissing each other in songs. Even though Wayne denied the claim, Gillie stands firm.

7. He Likes To Box

Staying in shape is something that is important to Gillie and boxing is one of his favorite ways to keep himself active. He frequently posts videos of himself training in the ring, and his followers seem to love the content. However, it doesn’t appear that he has ever boxed competitively.

8. He Isn’t Afraid Of A Challenge

Gillie Da Kid has gone through countless ups and downs over the years. But no matter what kind of obstacles come his way, he never lets anything keep him down for long. Part of the reason for this is the fact that he doesn’t shy away from being challenged. He is the type of person who enjoys putting himself to the test.

9. He Enjoys Giving Back To The Community

As mentioned earlier, Gillie is a very proud Philadelphia native. Now that he has made a name for himself, he wants to use his platform as a way to give back to those in need. He is especially passionate about working with the youth. Through his work, he hopes to inspire others.

10. He Likes To Keep His Personal Life On The Show

Despite the fact that Gillie has been in the music industry for many years, he has never been the type who likes to put his private life on display. For the most part, there isn’t a lot of personal information floating around about him. However, we do know that he is in a committed relationship with a woman named Regina. It’s unclear if the two are married.
