Guardian of Lightning Release Live At Cosmos Tree Extended Live Video and Album

Thunder metal pioneers Guardian of Lightning are back, and they have just released a new extended live video & soundtrack album entitled Live At Cosmos Tree. The album was produced by Eurico Tavares on location at The Cosmos Tree near Sao Paulo, Brazil. The album artwork features a “spirit of the light” which was unknowingly captured by a member of the band’s crew after their live performance. Watch the full thirty-two minute performance below:

According to the recent press release that we’ve received:

“Recording at The Cosmos Tree was a great challenge due to the local restrictions” says lead bassist Iron King. “After two months of planning, we got the necessary permits and a team of professionals who were fearless to film the video at this special, scared location. The tree is over one hundred years old, and many stories are told by the elder residents of that region. When you get close to that huge tree, you can feel the energy that emanates from it… a strong feeling of comfort and peace, as if the tree is embracing you with its own lifeforce. Some of our equipment wouldn’t work properly, and other stuff (like the generators) we had to place far away and run extension cords to the tree. Some strange noises and sonic anomalies were captured in the audio because of the tree’s energy (and you can hear them on the album). Some people may not believe us, but my grandmother was in the audience and took a picture of the tree as we were getting ready to leave. She is a medium and had a feeling to take one last picture. When we got home, she called and told me about the spirit of the light which she captured on her camera. We drove straight to her and she showed us… it was amazing!”

The nine-song live album is a soundtrack of the extended live video performance.  Here’s the album cover

About Guardian of Lightning (Via Eclipse Records)

Guardian of Lightning was formed in 2017 and the band quickly began rehearsing the songs Iron was writing for the band, exploring new possibilities and sounds. After a gig at a local rock club, the band was approached by the great Brazilian rock producer Caio Ribeiro (Sepultura, A-Ha, Ian Paice). Interested in the potential the band had with a lead bassist, Caio had the band into his studio Stage Record to record a two-song demo. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, and the band decided to write more material before heading back to Stage Record with Caio to complete their debut album.

In 2018 the band found out that their producer and close friend Caio Ribeiro was diagnosed with cancer, and the disease progressed quickly. While on his deathbed, he told Iron that the band would go on to create a great album which the world would one day hear. Caio passed away shortly thereafter, and the band took some time to mourn the loss of their dead friend and reflect on what the future held for Guardian of Lightning. Towards the end of 2018, the band were contacted by producer Eurico Tavares. Eurico had assisted Caio with producing the first Guardian of Lightning demo and told the band that he had found the presets for the two previous songs which Caio recorded, which meant that they could be used alongside the new material.

In 2019, the band re-entered Stage Record with their new producer Eurico Tavares to finish their debut full-length album, Cosmos Tree. During the sessions, it was possible to feel the presence of Caio Ribeiro in the studio with them. The positivity and good vibrations were very emotional for the band, and after twelve solid days the result was eight thundering metal tracks unlike anything ever heard by mortal ears before… Cosmos Tree was released worldwide via Eclipse Records on July 17, 2020.
