She first stepped into the contemporary Christian rock music scene in 2010 after signing with the record label known as Centricity Music. Her debut album (How Can It Be) was first released in 2015 and it reached the top spot on the Billboard Top Christian Albums Chart. It has since been certified RIAA’s Platinum and has released a total of three chart-topping singles with the Billboard Christian Airplay Chart. At first, Lauren Daigle wasn’t interested in a music career.

This changed at the age of fifteen when she fell seriously ill to a medical condition known as cytomegalovirus. In order to cope with a two-year battle against the illness that prevented her from going to school, Daigle took up singing lessons as a means for a creative outlet. Originally, Daigle intended to do mission work as a medical field agent.

Queen of Power Ballads

Despite her increased interest in music, she still pursued the medical field, even going as far as performing mission work in Brazil, as well as taking a course in Child and Family Studies. When Lauren Daigle started to venture into a music career more seriously, she competed on two different occasions for American Idol. On both occasions, she was unable to make the final cut that would have placed her among the top 24 contestants on the show.

However, this wasn’t enough to deter Daigle as she continued to move forward to what has now become an impressive career as one of the most popular artists of contemporary Christian music performing today. She’s the queen of power ballads, and she’s good. When one sees the number of music awards she has won, plus the number of fans that are fiercely loyal to Daigle and her music, quite often the judges of American Idol are picked on for failing to recognize true talent when it sings right before them.
