Kirk Hammett Favorites 3 METALLICA Solos

1 – Hero Of The Day (1996)

One of Kirk Hammett‘s favorite solos is his performance in 1996. ‘Hero Of The Day’ is a song from METALLICA’s album ‘Load’ released in 1996. The clip of the song was loved by the band’s fans.

Also, he said about the ‘Hero of the Day’; “A lot of people would disagree, and I don’t know why, but to me, it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever done.”

“No I’m not all me. So please excuse me while I tend to how I fell”

2 – Fade to Black (1984)

Fade to Black song from METALLICA’s 2nd album is one of the most popular songs of the band. It is also one of Kirk Hammett’s favorite solos.
You might not believe it, Kirk Hammett said that this song’s solo has always changed. It is completely improvised every time; “I don’t know what the fuck I’m going to play from the first lick, and I love that, I love knowing that I’m dancing on the knife-edge, that’s the excitement I fuckin’ live for.”

3 – One (1988)

Just like ‘Fade to Black’, this is one of the most popular songs of the band. Kirk Hammett talked about the recording process of one of his favorite solos, ‘One’. Stating that this is a completely natural process, and it excited him from the first moment he heard, Hammett added; “I said, ‘OK, press Record’ – next thing I know, my hand is tapping on the neck, following the chord progression, it just came out of air! Afterward, I was thinking, ‘Well, that was kind of a trip!'”
