The 10 Best Brandon Lake Songs of All-Time

Brandon Lake

After taking his first steps in the music business in 2016 with his crowdfunded, independently released debut album Closer, Brandon Lake achieved wider recognition in 2019 when he signed with Bethel Music. His first single with the label, This Is a Move, was a commercial and critical success, becoming his first charting song and picking up a GMA Dove Award for Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year. Since then, he’s continued to make waves in the CWM scene both through his solo work and his frequent collaborations with Elevation Worship. Here’s our pick of the 10 best Brandon Lake songs of all time.

10. Talking to Jesus

Released in collaboration with contemporary worship bands Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music in April 2021, Talking to Jesus became a huge hit, reaching number 9 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart and hitting the top spot on the Hot Gospel Songs chart, becoming Lake’s first number one on the chart. It also enjoyed success in New Zealand, peaking at number 38 on the New Zealand Hot Singles chart.

9. Come Out of That Grave (Resurrection Power)

In May 2020, Brandon Lake and Bethel Music got together for the slow-burning, stirringly moving Come Out of That Grave (Resurrection Power). 8. Might Get Loud

Released in August 2021, the song (which represents Lake’s fifth collaboration with Elevation Worship) peaked at number 20 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart.

7. We Praise You

Speaking to jubileecast.com about the inspiration behind We Praise You, Lake explained: “Praise isn’t just something we give as a gift to God, it’s something that can make things shift—it’s a weapon. Even if it doesn’t change the situation, praise can shift my perspective. It can take my eyes off the storm and put them on Christ.” Released in collaboration with Matt Redman in January 2020, the song reached number 46 on the US Christian Airplay chart. Check out the live rendition from Bethel Music’s album, Revival’s in the Air, for an alternative take.

6. I See You

Written by Bryan Fowler, Chris Tomlin, and Jonas Myrin, I See You found Lake teaming up with Chris Tomlin to deliver a passionate performance about the joy of seeing the role of God in creation. Speaking to thechristianbeat.org about the song’s message, Tomlin explained that it’s “all about seeing God throughout the different seasons in life, the ups and the downs.” Released in August 2021, I See You took the duo to number 31 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart.

5. Too Good to Not Believe

Too Good to Not Believe was first recorded by Lake and Bethel Music for the 2021 live album Homecoming. Released as the album’s lead single in May 2021, it reached number 25 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart. Later that same month, Lake and Cody Carnes released a studio version of the track. The second version didn’t fare as well in the charts as the live rendition, peaking at number 45 on the US Christian Songs, but it did manage to pick up a place on 365 Days Of Inspiring Media’s list of the “50 Songs of 2021.”

4. I Need a Ghost

Lake’s second studio album, House of Miracles, went down a storm with the Christian music press, who praised its raw, rugged approach to worship music. There’s plenty of gold to mine among the tracklist, with I Need a Ghost standing out as a particular highlight. Released as the album’s lead single in July 2020, it reached number 27 on the US Christian Airplay chart and number 5 on the US Christian Digital Song Sales chart. At the following year’s GMA Dove Awards, it picked up a nomination for Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year.
