10 Awesome Songs about Drinking

Luke Bryan

Every country around the world and every culture has had drinking songs dating all the way back to 11th century Germany, when they were called Trinklieder. In Sweden, they’re called Dryckesvisor. And, right here, in the good old US of A, have you ever noticed that just about everybody you know has their very own favorite drinking song? Yes, all over the country, imbibers have bar song preferences, so we’ve put together a list of 10 awesome songs about drinking for you to check out.

1. “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks

Garth’s 1990 hit album entitled “No Fences” made “Friends” become widely recognized as the “Number One Drinking Song for Drunken Sailors”. And, the fact is that more than 30 years later, the song is still a bar hopper’s favorite. It’s definitely the ultimate country tune among all of the well-known drinking songs and when combined with enough booze, is almost always guaranteed to spark a major sing-along. And, I guess by today’s standards, it might actually be called a “classic” but the most important thing about this Garth hit is that everybody can relate to the lyrics that include “when the beer chases our blues away”.
